Some of the most iconic images of Alaskan Salmon Life come from our commercial fisheries. Each summer communities around the state come together to harvest and celebrate our wild salmon resource.
Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute recently sent a photographer to some of these communities to take portraits capturing the diversity, heart and soul of Alaska’s commercial fishing industry. The portraits feature harvesters and processors alike, and represent the many cultural, ethnic and regional groups that contribute to our vibrant and critically important commercial fishing industry. Portraits were made of over 160 industry members in Petersburg, Wrangell, Ketchikan, Juneau, Tenakee Springs, Elfin Cove, Coffman Cove, Bethel, Tuntutuliak, Quinhagak, Kwigillingok, Kongiganak, Eek, Wasilla, Seward, and Kodiak. We selected some of our favorites to share.
